I just want to do a shout out to everyone out there with imperfect families!
During this time of physical isolation (aka social distancing) when people are engaging in chats about the “upside” of the pandemic…like how nice it is to finally to slow down, and to be spending more quality time with loved ones…I find myself wondering how triggering all this might be for some?
Male survivors who have yet to seek help, who are already feeling alone and isolated, due to their lack of ability to trust or engage in intimate relations, are most certainly among this population.
Please be sensitive to this! Be aware of your surroundings. If you know of someone already isolated, would you consider reaching out?
For people who were already feeling alone, discussions about family time could be (dangerously) triggering.
If you are among this population! I see you!
If you need to talk…please…reach out!
Most therapists are offering lower cost sessions via technology. Crisis lines are still open/available as are numerous on-line support forums…Malesurvivor.org, 1in6 to name a few…You are not alone.
Take care…
